CrossConnects is an IT Support and services company that focuses on small and growing businesses in the La Crosse, WI region. We primarily provide higher end business information services and IT support to companies that are too small to have their own IT people. We also extend IT services for companies that have just a few IT people but need more services than the IT people can support by themselves.  


We are locally owned and focused. We were founded in 1999 by Scott Cross, a veteran of computer and IT services. We focus on computers, servers, routers, switches, access points, firewalls, security systems, IP telephone systems, IP security camera systems and digital signage.  If it operates on your small business network then we work on it.


Whether you run a storefront with credit card transactions, a legal or accounting firm, a medical facility, or any other small business, we provide cost effective IT services to help you make sure that your information is secure and accessible only to your authorized personnel. 


We use a proactive approach to IT services; preventing the problems before they happen to reduce the need for reactive triage.  Typically reactive issues cause more downtime and have a higher cost to repair. 


We set up your networks and computer systems to minimize the chance of anything going wrong. We ensure that all of your systems are up to date to ensure that viruses, ransomware, and other malware can not compromise your IT systems, which cost your business. We also, provide backup services, otherwise known as disaster recovery or business continuity, to make sure that if anything does go wrong, your business can quickly recover.


We know from our 20+ years of experience in the field one thing for sure: all electronics die… unfortunately we are not very good at predicting the exact day that will occur.  What is important is that we have a plan of action when those electronics die. What this means for you is two things.


  • First, we need to have a proactive replacement schedule in place to make sure that your equipment is not past it’s mean time to failure (MTF).


  • Second, if a piece of equipment were to fail, then we have a plan to quickly get you back to operating at 100% with as little interruption as possible.  


The strategies to make these disaster recovery a reality to be able to recovery fulling inside of your “uptime objective” is sometimes very simple and sometimes very complex; depending on your goals.


  • For instance, if you have a short uptime objective, and you want to have back up and running for any issue or calamity inside of 4 hours, then we might need to have standby computer equipment on side and ready to go at a moments notice.


  • Otherwise, if you have a long uptime objective, and you do not need to be back up and running after a calamity in 7 days, then we would have time to order computer, network, and server hardware and be able to meet your objectives.


Everything depends on what your goals and objectives are.  We are here to make sure that we can obtain those goals.


Uptime is our objective.  Most IT Support companies in the La Crosse, WI area focus on helping you only when you are down.  This makes their profit motive for you to have continual problems. The only way that we make money is when you have uptime.  We turned the industry objective on its head by focusing on your company computers and networks being operational.

Scott Cross – Founder and CEO


With over thirty five years of experience working in the computer and electronics industry, Scott is uniquely qualified to lead a team of professionals in providing the best IT services to our clients. Scott got his start repairing radios and sonar equipment while serving in the United States Navy, and later worked with more advanced electronic equipment. 


After his Navy service, he attended college where he started working professionally in the computer industry. He has taught his craft in technical schools and colleges. He founded CrossConnects in 1999.  


His hobbies are playing musical instruments and HAM radio. He is licensed as KB3MKD.

Our name is a play on words. First, Cross is our founder’s last name. Connects is what we do. We connect equipment on your network so that you can connect with your business rather than worrying about equipment details. Finally, crossconnects are devices or wires that connect systems together such as a telephone provider and the in house telephone system.


We have a lot of experience in the IT support industry (often known as an IT Consulting or Managed Service Providers (MSP)).  When a company has been around since 1999 you have seen a few things occur in the industry. This gives us more perspective than most of our competitors.  Most of our competition’s employees are just a few years older than our company. Because of this we believe that we are able to offer a lot of wisdom, not just in the field of IT Support, but small business in general. 


Our team holds various different forms of formal degrees and certifications ranging from Bachelors of Science, Masters of Science, and numerous industry certifications.
